| Brenden Coney is an entrepreneur who solved a big problem–how can a middle schooler make money? Too young to hold a job, then 13-year-old Brenden asked his father to teach him how to do basic woodworking. Over the next five years, these lessons transformed into an impressive businesses called Elevation Creations that sells hand-crafted cutting boards, wine racks, and many other gifts. Working with his mentor Bahman Shafa, President of Focus Property Group, this year, Brenden hopes to expand his retail presence. I am 18 years old and graduated High School in the Spring of 2018. I started Elevation Creations in 2013 as a way to make money since I was too young to get a job. I worked the business part time during my middle school and high school years and earned my Eagle Scout rank with Boy Scouts of America in 2017.
As a young child, I “helped” my dad in his workshop. It was here where my interest and my love of woodworking began. Over the years, I have honed my skills while working along side my dad. I enjoy working with a variety of woods and like how every wood is different. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, skiing, hiking and camping.
I am also active in my church youth group and hold a position on the Church Board. I hope to one day become a civil engineer.
